Thank You for Helping Us Bring Inclusive Play to Richardson!

So What was All About?

Imagine a place where people of all abilities and ages can experience fun, challenging, and creative play, side-by-side. That is the vision of Richardson’s Inclusive Playground, which will be located at Cottonwood Park. Who better to feel a part of this community-wide effort than students in the Richardson ISD? was launched to let Richardson students be part of bringing the first inclusive playground to Richardson. The concept is simple. We need to raise about $250,000. With about 106,000 people in Richardson, that works out to about $2.35 per person, or 47 nickels. 22,000 of those individuals are elementary school students.

In early April, the Richardson East Rotary Club in partnership with the City of Richardson kicked off focused on elementary students. It was not all about the money, it was about participation in a program to bring an Inclusive Playground to Richardson. In cooperation with the individual school PTA’s, 19 of the 22 elementary schools participated in the program. It was a resounding success!

Forestridge Elementary Out-Runs the Pack!

Although the “competition” was to focused on student participation, Forest Ridge students had the highest participation rate and the highest contributions. In total, the 19 schools raised $3,281.68, that’s a LOT of nickels! Thanks to you from all of us and the kids who will have a new place to play.

While the campaign is “officially closed”, additional funds are still needed to reach our goal in funding the Inclusive Playground. You may make a contribution yourself by clicking the following Donate button or find additional information .
